Principal’s message

Welcome to Stephen G. Saywell P.S.!

A special welcome to new families who are joining our community. Stephen Saywell is a wonderful place to "bee". We encourage our students to "bee-lieve" in themselves, and remind them every day that we "bee-lieve" in them too!

Stephen Saywell has a history of strong community connections where families, community members, staff and students work together to promote healthy development of all our students.  Regular communication between home and school is essential for student success. Our school website contains information about the school itself, as well as the school code of conduct and school newsletters. A Saywell weekly message is sent out through School Messenger, usually on Sundays, in order to provide helpful information about the week ahead.  There is a vocal phone message and an email sent out. Often the email has attachments.  A text is also sent to remind you to watch for our weekly message.  We post information on our electronic sign in front of the school.  Some of our teachers use the Remind app to send out short messages.  All classroom teachers have a Google classroom where additional information can be found, specific to curriculum.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.  The best way to contact a member of our staff is by calling the school, leaving a message, requesting a call or emailing the staff member.   We very much appreciate your support and suggestions as we continue to honour the partnership of students, staff, parents and community partners as members of our unique community.

Our School Community Council is a valued partner in our school.  Consider joining the SCC in order to share your input and to support our fundraising efforts.  Being part of our SCC is a great way to form friendships in our community.  Meetings are generally once a month. Personally, I am still in touch with members of my previous SCCs at other schools.  I truly value working as a team to provide the best school experience I can for your child.

Sincerely,

Tara Paterson
